We had a Fall of Rome/Community service project in the first Quarter. Here are some of the components:
Reflection: I really believe that my group went above and beyond on this project. We contacted the mayor on this project and got donations from green thumb. We also baked and sold cookies to raise money for the project. In the end, we raised ~$200. Using this money, we bought drought tolerant, native California plants. We then planted them at the Cross and watered them every week. We hoped that the project would impact the community, and it proved to have been appreciated. For example, when we mentioned this project, some people knew what we were talking about because they had seen our improvements at the cross. Another person left a box in the shape of a cross in front of the plants we planted. Also, as we were working, several people thanked us for beautifying the cross. I think that this was a very successful project.
This is my World Geography Wrap-Up Presentation:
Reflection: This was one of the last projects of the quarter. One thing that I like about this piece is how I made it fit the theme well. This project was supposed to show our knowledge of ancient Rome, and I think I did this creatively by using the map of the world and zooming in to Rome to display my information. I think I did a good job with the pull factors; I had a slide for each one. I also did the connections part well because I included examples of my time in Rome.
Here is my Sahara Desert Survival Guide from the second quarter:
Reflection: I think that this piece demonstrates my ability to use my other skills like art (coding in this example) and combine them with my social studies and language arts knowledge to complete assignments. I am really proud of this because it is something that nobody else did and was creative. Also, I am proud of it because I really had to take the time to fail multiple times before succeeding. If I could change one thing about this piece it would be to add a game. I think a game would have made it more attention grabbing and fun. Overall, I think I did a very good job on this assignment.
Quarter 3 "Chopped" Meal Idea:
Reflection: I am proud of this piece because I think that I created a very appetizing meal that could be made with medieval Europe's food supply. I think that people would enjoy eating this meal, and it shows my knowledge of the food in medieval Europe. However, I think that the actual slide show could have been better. I think different colors and formatting would have made it look nicer. Overall, I am pleased with this assignment.
Quarter 4:
Reflection: I am very proud of this project because I put a lot of time and effort into it. I think that I combined a variety of skills such as art, technology, and even cooking into this project. I am also proud because we won the overall award which made me feel accomplished. Overall, I think I did very well on this project.
